What I feel when I listen to Michelle Neves singing the songs of Unpop could easily be described as ineffable. It is a kind of sensation that is only aroused in me by very few singers, like Lenine and Brian Wilson, or Elza Soares and Clara Nunes.
However, there is something more: there is a sense of calm, inner peace, and happiness, especially suggested by the tone of songs like Invisible Presence, Piety/Pietá, The humans and On the edge of love. These songs sound like prayers to me, not only the lyrics, but also the singing. Even On the edge of love, which has a strong rock rhythm, has got this modulation, particularly the refrain.
I think this atmosphere of Unpop is due to the perfect combination of lyrics, music and singing, which is rare to attain. Unpop is truly unmissable!
